The group was established in 2007 as the corporate investment vehicle of its founder, media and entertainment entrepreneur Alkiviades “Alki” David, a member of the prominent Greek “David-Leventis” family, whose holdings include manufacturing, biotech, Coca Cola bottling plants, asset management, retail, hospitality and real estate. Mr. David’s most significant personal successes to date have been within the shipping and media technology industries.
FOTV’s content strategy includes initiatives based on creating original content, distribution tied to live events, branded content integration and B2B digital distribution that incorporates Social Media Influencers and popular Artists in the film, TV and music industries. FOTV has also formed many strategic alliances with major media corporations to license both the technology and content in the group’s portfolio.
FilmOn Networks, the globally accessible IPTV platform which serves over 70 Million unique visitors each month, and Hologram USA, the company that develops digital resurrection performances, in collaboration with the management and estates of celebrities from the world of entertainment, politics and sports. HUSA also creates game changing telepresence opportunities for living entertainers and politicians.
FOTV also owns the world’s largest privately held collection of movies and TV shows which includes the respected Hemdale, Cannon, Allied and Cinebx libraries. Over 30,000 film negatives are constantly being restored and digitally re-mastered at a state-of-the-art facility in Irvine, CA.
In 2013, the company’s FilmOn subsidiary established a significant strategic alliance with Chinese company Lenovo Group Ltd., the world’s largest personal computer manufacturer and third largest ‘smart connected device’ maker. The FilmOn TV app is now preloaded on every PC distributed by Lenovo globally, which at the company’s reported run rate in July 2014, will amount to approximately 100 million.
With over one hundred full time engineers and programmers located in Odessa Ukraine, and in Los Angeles, FOTV creates multiple technologies, sites and apps as well as manages a large IPTV and Web-services Cloud Infrastructure. This fully autonomous Network is hosted from a datacenter in several locations across the Globe, and has taken a decade to implement.
In addition to the corporate headquarters in Beverly Hills, the company has offices and technical infrastructure, satellite up link, and production studios in London, Switzerland and Ukraine.
